Royde & Tucker are the UK’s leading manufacturer of door hinges and accessories.
I designed a framework that integrated their corporate branding into a website providing access to their complete product information. The website content is edited through a custom administration interface designed specifically for the site, allowing Royde and Tucker to change every aspect of the content while maintaining a consistent design and strong branding.
Navigation
Royde and Tucker initially requested a Flash-based navigation system. Through consultation with the directors, I was able to produce a website far more accessible than any Flash-based site could have been, while retaining the dropdown navigation ideas they wanted. Through CSS design, the dropdown menu system was built to work dynamically — when they update content within each section, the navigation menu also updates instantly.
PDF search
They had hundreds of PDF files they wanted control of, with weekly updates. They also wanted the PDFs to be searchable from the web. There was nothing on the market at the time that allowed this, so I designed a program that can search inside PDFs and make them accessible through a search box on their website — a genuinely innovative solution to their customers’ needs.
