Oxford University has a multitude of different museums, all of which offer family-friendly events and activities.
The museums wanted a website to help publicise these events, allowing families to see where and when activities are taking place and providing information for teachers about the many courses the University Museums offer.
The solution
I designed a simple, accessible website that integrates with a live web database to show events that are kept up to date and relevant automatically — it only shows events in the future from the day a user visits the site.
Simplicity was the key. The brief was to make navigation obvious and information quickly and easily reachable. The system is fully administered in-house by the museums themselves, with no technical knowledge required to update the content.
The project was funded jointly across the Ashmolean Museum, Museum of the History of Science, Museum of Natural History, and the Pitt Rivers Museum.
